On the September the 20th, the Kilvington School students from Australia paid a visit to Global Jaya International School for student exchange program. Before they got here, they were travelling around Yogyakarta for a day. They stayed here for a week and joined us in several classes and activities; they were taken care by their host families. They arrived here on Saturdayand on Sunday they were just unpacking their stuff, getting ready for the first day at our school, and spent time to know better about their host families.
On Monday, they gathered in one room at Global and were told
some brief information about how our school works and what are their plans
here. Student buddies are students that will guide them, the Klivington
students at school and help them with all their needs for the 5 days stay.
After the briefing ended, student buddies walked them around the school to show
the facilities we have and explained everything about the classes. Then, they
just enjoyed the rest of the day walking around the school and chatting with
their friends, they were also taught some Indonesian language. Their stay here
was quite an experience for them because they got to see new culture, language
and things from Indonesia.
They went to the zoo for a day and saw different kinds of
animals that they had never seen before, they also got the chance to feed them
in person. I think they saw some interesting things there and it must have been
a great new information for them because they can see the difference between
Australia and Indonesia’s zoo. They bought some merchandises from there. The
Klivington students were also made wayang, batik and some Indonesian
traditional food, they also learned about what is kolintang and how to use it,
they said it was fun and they want to do it again some other time. They also
went to a museum in Jakarta, and learned so many diverse cultures from
Indonesia, then played at the amusement park called Dufan and I guarantee that
they had so much fun.
The
last day of their stay is mostly spending time with us in class and studied our
lessons and subjects. It is where we can communicate with them and know their
school better, how they learn and what are the difference between them and us,
what are the things that interest them the most and all kinds of questions.
"It
was a great experience to come to Indonesia." said one of the student from
Klivinton student.
